Dr. Hattervig has been a dentist for over 39 years. He graduated from UNMC College of Dentistry in 1984, practiced 32 years in his little hometown of Howard, South Dakota before returning to teach at the College of Dentistry in 2016. Dr. Hattervig chose dentistry because he likes science, helping people, and fixing things with his hands, so dentistry seemed to combination all of those.

Dr. Hattervig is a general dentist and provides extractions, restorative treatment , and removable prosthodontic treatment.

He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of South Dakota and a UNMC COD graduate. He grew up on a farm in South Dakota and has three sons in their late 20s and early 30s. He has many hobbies and interests, a lot of them related to home repair projects.
